Law 360 (October 15, 2018) - The Patent Trial and Appeal Board has upheld two X One Inc. patents on location tracking technology, with the board finding that the claims challenged by Uber Technologies, Inc. were not obvious in light of prior art.
In separate decisions, the PTAB found on Friday that X One's Patent Numbers 8,798,647 and 8,798,593, which relate to a system for wireless devices to exchange GPS information, were not invalid as obvious in view of earlier patents, rejecting Uber's contentions that various combinations of previous Japanese patent applications and US patents taught the challenged claims.
